性质描述: 白色至乳白色细粒结晶,微有溴气味。密度2.098g/cm3,熔点180-183℃(分解),在173.5℃时稍分解。溶于四氯化碳。活性溴的*小含量44.5%。
N-溴代丁二酰亚胺是一个很有用的溴化剂,它具有高度的选择性,只进攻弱的C—H键即进攻与双键或苯环相连的α-H
在强碱(例如DBU)存在下NBS可以将一级酰胺经由霍夫曼重排反应转变为中间产物异氰酸酯。异氰酸酯则与带有羟基的化合物(例如甲醇)反应生成易水解和分离的氨基甲酸。
对烯烃的加成反应
NBS可以和烯烃在水溶液中反应,生成羟基溴代烷。该反应优化的条件是在0℃下,将烯烃溶于二甲基亚砜、二甲基乙缩醛、四氢呋喃、叔丁醇中任意的50%水溶液,在分部加入NBS。该反应的副产物包括α-溴代酮和二溴代化合物。使用新重结晶纯化过的NBS可以减少这些副产物的生成。 如果不加入水,而加入其它亲核试剂,亦可合成其它的双官能团化合物。
霍夫曼重排反应中的溴化
NBS在强碱(例如1,8-二氮杂 N-溴代丁二酰亚胺双环[5.4.0]十一碳-7-烯(DBU))的状态下可以将一级酰胺经由霍夫曼重排反应产生中间产物异氰酸酯。异氰酸酯则与带有羟基的化合物(例如甲醇)反应生成氨基甲酸,参见 氨基甲酸酯。

First Aid Measures
【Ingestion】If victim is conscious and alert, give 2-4 cupfuls of milk or water. Get medical aid immediately.
【Inhalation】Remove from exposure to fresh air immediately. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. Get medical aid.
【Skin】Immediately flush skin with plenty of soap and water for at least 15 minutes while removing contaminated clothing and shoes. Get medical aid if irritation develops or persists.
【Eyes】Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes, occasionally lifting the upper and lower eyelids. Get medical aid immediately.
