Mobil SHC™ Aware™ Series gear oils
Mobil SHC™ Aware™ Gear Series gear oils meet Vessel General Permit (VGP) requirements for environmentally acceptable lubricants* and are engineered to deliver outstanding protection for gears and bearings, even under extreme pressure conditions.
Mobil SHC™ Aware™ Gear 68, Mobil SHC™ Aware™ Gear 100 and Mobil SHC™ Aware™ Gear 150 oils are suitable for use in marine controllable pitch propeller and thruster applications, enclosed gear drives, and in systems where readily biodegradable and minimally toxic fluids may be required due to potential for water-oil interface. They are also compatible with many common gearbox materials.
The benefits of these lubricants may include:
- Protection from micropitting and scuffing
- Long service life of machinery, reducing maintenance between dry docks
- Excellent resistance to high-temperature degradation
- Very good demulsibility and resistance to rust and corrosion/li>
*Environmentally acceptable lubricants are defined in the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) 2013 Vessel General Permit (VGP) as lubricants that are biodegradable, minimally toxic and non-bioaccumulative.
