密闭腔体指出的是直接包容密封腔的静止壳体。在灭菌过程中，腔体密封不好会导致蒸汽会外流，腔室压力和温度下降，从而无法baozheng灭菌过程中灭菌温度都保持在设定值以上，同时还存在安全隐患。此外，密封不好也可能导致腔体内不凝气体的含量增加，影响蒸汽的热穿透性等。
所以baozheng灭菌的youxiao性和灭菌的安全性，要从baozheng腔体的密封开始。
随着材料和灭菌技术的发展，灭菌腔体的密封方式也随之变化：起初，密封主要以强制机械压力的密封条为主（也称唇式密封），目的低端的灭菌锅依然采用这种方式。这种方式设计和执行起来相对简单，但是受到其密封原理的影响，其安全风险和灭菌风险较大。
