the generic ascii serial communication module (mvi94-gsc) provides a fast and easy way to add two fully-configurable ascii communication ports to the flex platform. the mvi94-gac module is a single-slot, backplane compatible solution for the allen-bradley flex platform. both ports support the sending and receiving of large ascii character strings. with the implementation of supporting ladder logic, many different devices that support ascii communications can be integrated into the flex platform.

the mvi94-gsc module has two active serial ports. prt2 is jumper-configured for direct or multi-dr-op field communication via rs-232/422/485.
two ascii ports are configured independently, allowing the module to operate using numerous configurations. once configured via ladder logic, the module will support the movement of ascii character strings to/from the flex processor"s data space.
the mvi94-gsc module is the ideal solution for the many applications where ascii character communications need to be added to the flex platform. example applications involving the mvi94-gsc module can be found in many industrial sectors generally involving the following applications.
