Mutations in this gene are associated with carnitine acylcarnitine translocase deficiency, which can cause a variety of pathological conditions such as hypoglycemia, cardiac arrest, hepatomegaly, hepatic dysfunction ａnd muscle weakness, ａnd is usually lethal in new born ａnd infants.
