Description
Fibroblasts are mesenchymal cells, which are derived from the embryonic mesoderm. Fibroblasts secrete a nonrigid extracellular matrix that is rich in type I and/or type III collagen [1]. Fibroblasts have been isolated from many tissues and there is good evidence that in different parts of the body, they are intrinsically different [2]. Fibroblasts exhibit a characteristic spindle morphology and have a finite life span of about 50 generations in culture. Fibroblasts have been extensively used for a wide range of cellular and molecular studies. This is mainly because they are one of the easiest types of cells to grow in culture and their durability makes them amenable to a wide variety of manipulations ranging from studies employing gene transfection to microinjection.
HPrF from ScienCell Research Laboratories are isolated from human prostate tissue. HPrF are cryopreserved at primary culture and delivered frozen. Each vial contains >5 x 105 cells in 1 ml volume. HPrF are characterized by immunofluorescent method with antibody to fibronectin. HPrF are negative for HIV-1, HBV, HCV, mycoplasma, bacteria, yeast and fungi. HPrF are guaranteed to further expand for 15 population doublings in the conditions specified by ScienCell Research Laboratories.
