聚乙烯防腐胶带在市场上名称复杂混乱：薄胶型聚乙烯防腐胶带又称为冷缠胶带，聚乙烯防腐胶带，复合型聚乙烯防腐胶带；厚胶型聚乙烯防腐胶带又被称为聚乙烯660型防腐胶带，聚乙烯改性沥青防腐胶带，一体带，有的厂家也称PipeCoat聚乙烯防腐胶带。这种防腐胶粘带带主要应用于石油、天然气传输；化工、城市建设中的给排水和煤气输送等埋地钢质管道的外表面防腐。具有施工方便，无污染等特点，是管道外防腐的防腐体系之一。
聚乙烯防腐胶带的主要特点有：
1、胶带厚度选择范围大，胶带根据防腐具体情况厚度范围比从0.38mm-1.6mm都可以生产。甚至根据可以要求可以定制更厚的防腐胶带。
2、胶带胶层薄厚均匀，防腐层剥离强度大，基本上都能达到25N/cm以上。
3、基材与胶层结合力大，在存放或施工过程中不存在脱胶现象。
4、耐热老化性好，抗紫外线能力强。
5、拉伸强度高，断裂伸长率适当，便于机械化和手动缠绕。
6、品种、规格、颜色可选择范围广，黑色，白色，黄色齐全。
使用方法：
(1) 除锈、除焊缝、毛刺，油、污物并干燥。手工并除锈应达St3级，机械除锈应符合SYJ 4 0 0 7—8 6中的Sa2级。
(2) 涂底漆：应采用配套底漆，使用时远离火源，搅拌均匀并用干净毛刷、滚子或其它机械方法均匀涂敷
(3) 底漆表干时即可缠带，缠带应符合防腐层等级及结构要求。
(4) 用电火花检查合格即可下沟填上。
